Dog Days of Summer is pleased to be announce the Sahlen’s World Picnic-style Hot Dog Eating Championship!
Grand Prize- $500
Second Place- $250
How many Sahlen’s Hot Dogs can you eat in 8 minutes?
Calling all amateur and professional competitive eaters! Sahlen’s and Dug’s Dive are proud to announce the first-ever Sahlen’s Hot Dog Eating Competition. Sponsored by A.I.C.E. (Association of Independent Competitive Eaters), this event will last 8 minutes, and what is known in the industry as “picnic-style” rules (see below for details), will be strictly enforced .
This contest, hosted by Arnie” Chowhound” Chapman, founder of A.I.C.E. and well-respected competitive eater in his own right, hearkens fairs and county picnics of yesteryear.

The Rules:
- Eaters must be 18 years of age.
- There is no separating the bun from the dog, each hot dog is to be eaten in its entirety.
- There will be no dunking or soaking the bun or any other portion of the food in water or any other substance that may change its texture.
- There will be no mashing or molestation of the hot dog or bun during the competition.
Picnic-style rules mean that the food is eaten the way that it is traditionally eaten. For more information about picnic-style rules, click here.
